Renée's Musical Friends

The Renée's Café Orchestra on the Road

Chris, Renée and Garry in Huatulco, Mexico

Renée's has some of the finest jazz, blues and folk music around.

Friday nights feature guitarist Garry White, with Renée White on bass. They play a wide-ranging mix of 30's/40's standards, 50's/60's pop, with blues, bebop and country flavors. Garry's experience includes tours with Hagood Hardy and Tommy Hunter, and appearances at many Toronto jazz venues.

Chris Portinari often joins Garry and Renée on trumpet, trombone and vocals for an evening of traditional Dixieland and not so traditional mainstream jazz. Chris was leader of Ottawa's famous "Dr. Jazz" and is a well-known figure to the Capital's jazz fans.

Trumpeter Ralph Burton who leads the Ralph Burton Sextet in North Bay is a frequent guest.

Watch our calendar for Concert appearances from time to time. Past concerts have included such names as Laura Smith, Ian Tamblyn, Ken Hamm, J. P. Cormier, Katherine Wheatley, Caitlin Hanford, Dan Whitely, Steve Schellenberg and Alan Rhody.
